Brookie,

Sadly, "The Cobbler's Son Has No Shoes" best describes our recognition program. Being involved with a recognition company takes away the significance of recognition programs. I believe the greatest form of recognition and appreciation comes from respect. I try to create a work environment that does not have micro managing and is easy going. There are no real rules at our shop and my employees are not governed by strict HR policies for sick time, vacation time, or overtime. We are all adults and we all know the difference between right and wrong. We all know what looks good and what doesn't. We are always designing and creating interesting and challenging engraved products and complements of how nice something turned out is our way of recognizing each other.

I am not in favor of forgoing bonuses if possible. I think companies that are in a hard financial situation has alternative options available, but should not forgo bonuses to help increase the bottom line.

Thank you for your post.
